All systems go for 109th Capiz anniv, int’l dance tilt
ROXAS CITY – It’s all systems go for Capiz as the province is ready for the celebration of its 109th founding anniversary and the commemoration of 62nd death anniversary of President Manuel Roxas and holding of international dance exchange this week.
The 109th Capiz anniversary dubbed as Capiztahan 2010 with President Manuel Roxas death anniversary will be celebrated on April 13 – 15 while the 2nd International Dance Exchange will also be held on April 15 – 18 at the Villareal Stadium.
Mr. Al Teroso, provincial tourism officer, said in a press conference held at the Poolside Pavilion, Villareal Stadium on Thursday, that they already coordinated with non-government organizations (NGOs), business sector, city government to cooperate with the affairs.
The provincial tourism officer cited several rationale of the affairs. He said that the activities during the 6-day affair include: Tagbuanay, Misa Pasasalamat, Bunga/Bunggad, Fiesta Capiznon, Patubas, Huwaran, Tiangge/Kusina sa Parke, Dungog Capiznon, Pag-ulikid, Paghanduraw (President Manuel Roxas death anniversary), Hugyaw Capiz, Hataw Capiz, and Street Parade and Dancing Exchange.
Tesoro said, a presentation of dance performers from ten countries such as USA, England, Japan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Cuba, Taiwan and Hongkong and 20 groups from different provinces of the country will also be held.
Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. said that the province will be having a dual celebration in which Capiz will not only be having regional or national but international event since several countries will come in and participate the dance exchange.“This is something good for Capiz,” Tanco said.
The governor also said that founding anniversary is Capiz’s birthday that is why the people should be united as we are proud of being Capiceños. “We have to unite and set aside politics for a while and celebrated the Capiz anniversary,” Tanco appealed.
Meanwhile, Sr. Supt. Josephus Angan said that for security and to maintain peace and order, the same police force and system which was implemented during the previous affair will also be deployed during the Capiztahan.
On other hand, Police Officer Butsoy Andrada also assured the same traffic scheme will be used during the two occasions.
The said press conference were also attended by Mr. Alger Inocencio of city tourism office, representing Roxas City, department heads, local media and other national agencies.
