New infra projects to ease traffic problems, Leonardia says
Mayor Evelio Leonardia announced that various infrastructure projects that were included in the 2010 Annual Investment Plan are geared towards easing, if not solving, the traffic problems in various parts of Bacolod.
The projects that include construction of new roads and bridges can substantially reduce traffic congestion and spur the development of the benefitted areas into new growth centers, Leonardia said.
These projects are as follows: road with bridge from Eroreco to Circumferential Road, road with bridge from Lacson Street to Active Subdivision, road with box culvert connecting Lacson and San Juan Streets, construction and widening of existing Vista Alegre roads, construction of road from Burgos to Vista Alegre road to Bacolod-Murcia road, link road from Sitio Sibucao in Barangay Banago to Talisay City, extension of North Capital Road to the reclamation area, outer circumferential road and bridges from Granada to Vista Alegre to Mansilingan to Felisa, and widening and construction of Fortune Towne road from Fortune Towne to Buri road to Circumferential road.
The mayor said that these projects were already approved for inclusion in the Annual Investment Plan by the City Development Council.
He also said that aside from these, the city government has already started construction of a major bridge project connecting Taculing Road to Alijis while budget has been earmarked for the construction of another bridge, this time linking Gatuslao Extension to Robinson’s Place.
Leonardia is optimistic that these projects, once completed, will have a significant impact in improving the city’s traffic situation.
