PHO launches ‘Garantisadong Pambata’
About a hundred pre-school children were assisted and given the necessary supplements during the launching of the Garantisadong Pambata (GP) at the Provincial Health Office, yesterday.
The GP emphasizes the importance of healthy mothers and children. The Department of Health in partnership with local government units recommended the GP strategy which is aimed at improving the health status of children from six months to five years old, in a 4-in-1 package that includes the giving of vitamin A, immunization, deworming, and consultation.
It is conducted twice a year in 32 local government units helps reduce infant mortality rate in the province.
Moreover, the program is also intended to help prevent illnesses and diseases of children as well as give special focus to mother’s health that affects the well-being of the unborn and of her living children.
It also promotes the importance of breastfeeding, vitamin A supplementation every six months, and immunization of children./Capitol News
