Top Capiceño taxpayers’ list underway
ROXAS CITY – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office No. 72 is in the process of coming up with a list of top individual and institutional taxpayers to give due recognition to their contributions and serve as examples worthy of emulation by other taxpayers and soon-to-be taxpayers.
This was revealed by BIR–Capiz Assistant Revenue District Officer and lawyer Jose Rimi Lebrilla in view of the Bureau’s Revenue Memorandum Order No. 31 – 2010.
The RMO directed Revenue District Officers to submit lists of 2009’s top individual and corporate taxpayers in their respective areas.
BIR Commissioner Joel L. Tan – Torres said that he is planning to publicize the names of top taxpayers for taxable year 2009 after the April 15, 2010 income tax payment deadline, both individuals and corporations, for each of the Revenue District Office and Revenue Region of the BIR nationwide.
“We will be posting the names of top taxpayers in our website at www.bir.gov.ph and in national and local newspapers starting this year,” he said in a website news.
Section 71 of the Tax Code in part states that “The Commissioner may, in each year, cause to be prepared and published in any newspaper the lists containing the names and addresses of persons who have filed income tax returns.” (PIA/A.Lumaque)
