Employee loses P30K to notorious snatchers
An employee of a clothing company lost some P30,000 after she was snatched while riding a passenger jeepney at La Paz, Iloilo City Wednesday evening.
Twenty-three-year old Christine Mae Vargas just came from their store at Gaisano City Mall and was about to remit their daily earning at their main office at a mall in City Proper district when the incident happened.
While in tears, Vargas narrated that the jeepney was waiting for more passengers when the suspects rode with her.
One of suspects sat near her while the other hanged to the back of the jeepney.
While the vehicle was still at halt, the suspect sitting beside Vargas grabbed her shoulder bag containing the money and her mobile phone, among others.
The suspects then fled on foot at an alley, just at the other side of the road.
Despite the presence of a lot of people, no one came to the victim’s rescue.
Police immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation but failed to arrest the suspects.
Meanwhile, Vargas had identified one of the suspects in the police rogue’s gallery.
The suspect was disclosed as Marlon Abregana of Rizal St., La Paz district. He had been arrested before for the same offense.
In fact, police claimed that he just came out from incarceration at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP District Jail in Ungka, Jaro.
It was surmised that the suspects had been monitoring Vargas’ movements prior to the incident.
