PCOS machines’ memory cards sent back to Manila
ROXAS CITY – Some 624 memory cards believed to be defective were extracted from Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines here then sent back to Manila yesterday.
Commission on Election (Comelec) Provincial Officer Lawyer Wil Arceño said in a radio interview that as per directive from the central office, the said memory cards should be sent back for reconfiguration or be replaced.
Arceño also said that once fixed or replaced, the memory cards will be reinstalled at the said PCOS machines which be tested on Friday through mock election.
The said PCOS machines arrived here last week and were supposed to be delivered to different towns however they were hold as per order by the Comelec.
On Monday, the PCOS machines were found defective when mock election conducted by Comelec and Smartmatic-TIM in six towns in Occidental Mindoro where votes for presidential Candidates Manny Villar and Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III were counted for Gilbert Teodoro Jr. of the administration party, according to Nacionalista Party (NP).
Also, in some areas the PCOS machines did not count the local bets during the conduct of the testing.
