Capiz teachers all set for May 10 polls
ROXAS CITY – Thousands of public school teachers in Capiz are set to render duty on May 10 automated national and local elections.
Capiz Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Eveleth Gamboa said that about 2,000 public school teachers will act as members of the board of election inspector (BEI) on Monday, May 10.
Gamboa said that a total of 2,022 BEIs, mostly public school teachers, will serve in the 674 clustered precincts in the province with three BEIs per clustered precinct.
She stressed that after said teachers had undergone a training from the Commission on Elections and Department of Science and Technology, they are now ready to perform their duties and functions required of in the coming polls.
Gamboa said that teachers were also reminded on the dos and don’ts to be observed in the performance of their duties.
According to her the teachers here vowed to ensure clean, honest, credible and orderly elections.
“We have already pledged our allegiance to work with commitment this election,” Gamboa said, adding that despite some problems especially in the delivery of the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines, the teachers are also excited to handle the first-ever automated elections in the country.
