Energy conservation seminar, audit slated in WV
The Department of Energy (DOE) will conduct a seminar on energy conservation and energy spot check for government agencies here, May 19-20 as part of the advocacy campaign on the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP).
During the seminar on power conservation and efficiency, the GEMP will be discussed and various energy conservation tips, according to Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Regional Director lawyer Ma. Janet C. Mesa.
Mesa said the activity is a collaborative effort of the DOE and PIA.
The spot check or energy audit will ascertain the energy efficiency and conservation measures and practices among government agencies here in terms of office electricity and vehicle fuel usage.
GEMP is one of the projects under the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program (NEECP), which aims to advocate to government agencies and offices on cost savings on fuel and electricity without sacrificing productivity and to get their savings commitment.
The program was institutionalized by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo by virtue of Administrative Order No. 110 which she issued in 2004. (PIA 6)
