‘Philandering’ hubby stabs dead sleeping wife
A husband is now on the run after allegedly killing his wife before shortly midnight of Thursday inside their house at Brgy. Malusgod, Pototan, Iloilo.
Reports said that Rogelio Gealon, a carpenter, allegedly stabbed his wife, 25-year old Joan, while the latter was sleeping.
When the stabbing episode happened, Pototan PNP investigator PO2 Renato Pineda said that Joan was sleeping with their two children, ages 7 and 5 years old, inside the room the couple occupied.
It was gathered that the couple and their kids were taking shelter at the home of the victim’s parents.
Despite her stab injuries, Joan managed to shout for help and woke her parents but the suspect immediately ran off to an undisclosed direction.
The victim was brought to Iloilo Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
She succumbed to 23 stab wounds on the different parts of her body, the autopsy result stated.
According to PNP Regional Crime Laboratory medico-legal officer Chief Insp. Noel Martinez, the fatal wounds are those found on her chest.
The suspect apparently used three kinds of weapon – knife, ice pick, and a chisel.
At around 6:15 p.m. of the said date, Pineda said that Joan reported to the police station that the suspect beat her up.
The woman allegedly wanted to have her husband arrested.
The battery incident stemmed when Joan accused Rogelio of philandering while she was working as a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia.
A criminal charge for parricide is yet to be filed against the suspect.
