Treñas orders cops to be vigilant vs saboteurs
Iloilo City congressman- elect Mayor Jerry Treñas has ordered Chief Insp. Noel Lamsis, station commander of city proper, to secure all the government-owned properties against saboteurs.
His order came after 30 street bulbs located along Plaza Libertad here were stolen by unidentified robbers just the other day.
Yesterday, he asked Lamsis to conduct immediate investigation on the incident and ensure that all facilities and equipment of the city government are safe and intact.
Treñas emphasized that the stolen bulbs are expensive although, he did not indicate the price of each bulb.
The elected-congressman also solicited the cooperation of the public to be vigilant and report to the nearest police station any suspicious persons seen roaming around aimlessly especially during the night and wee hours.
Treñas also called on the city policemen to enforce police visibility and foot patrol so that the same incident will not happen again.
Meanwhile, Treñas was sure if this incident could still be considered election-related.
He added that almost everybody accepted the result of the elections and Iloilo City will continue to move on.
“Let’s forget politics now that elections are over. Let us all be gracious”, he told members of the Iloilo City Hall Press Corps.
On July 1, Treñas will replace Congressman Raul Gonzalez Jr. in the House of Representatives while vice mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog is set to become the next city mayor.
