Pa poisons two kids, self
His wife’s threat of separation prompted a 32-year old father to poison his two young children and himself Thursday evening at their farm house in Sitio Pinaypayan, Brgy. Lumbia, Estancia, Iloilo.
While Bobby Duran survived the incident, his two children did not pull through.
At around 7:25 p.m. of Thursday, 1-year old Christian was proclaimed dead at Jesus Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan, Iloilo.
The 3-year old Christine, on the other hand, died at around 2:00 p.m. of Friday at Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.
According to Estancia PNP investigator PO1 Mario Aguinia, the incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. of Thursday.
The father allegedly brought his two kids at their farmhouse and induced to them a powdered pesticide mixed in water.
After letting his kids drink, Bobby also took the pesticide.
Shortly later, however, Bobby left the farm house and asked for help from his sister-in-law claiming that they gulped a poison.
They were then rushed to the Balasan hospital.
Aguinia claimed that he was at the hospital to follow-up a vehicular accident when the three were rushed.
However, “I thought that there’s nothing more to it because the incident was not reported to us. I chatted with the father but he seemed aloof and refused to talk much.”
As Christian was proclaimed dead, both Bobby and his daughter were rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center.
Christine was in critical condition at that time while Bobby was in serious state.
After one day of battling for her life, Christine passed away while Bobby is still under observation due to the toxin that is still in his body.
Aguinia claimed that they only investigated the incident Saturday after a concerned citizen informed them about brief facts surrounding the death of two children.
Until now, Aguinia claimed that Bobby maintained his silence about what happened.
But it is apparent, the investigator said, that the father was repentant about what he did.
Separation
Reports said that Bobby wanted to end his and his children’s life after his wife called him a few days before the incident.
The wife, who has been working for 5 months in Manila as a househelp, allegedly told her husband that it’s all over between them.
The wife also assured Bobby that she would send financial support for the kids.
But after the wife was informed about what happened to her husband and children, she claimed that the “separation threat” was just a one big practical joke.
As this developed, Aguinia claimed that they are closely guarding the suspect while under treatment.
Bobby will also be brought directly to his detention cell after his release from the hospital.
Police are still preparing two counts of parricide against him.
