Quarrying in Brgy Cudian, Ivisan ordered stopped
ROXAS CITY – The MGDSU under the office of the governor has issued a Cease and Desist Order (CDO) against the alleged illegal quarrying operations at Brgy. Cudian, Ivisan, Capiz.
Provincial Engr. Edgar Agana, who is concurrently officer-in-charge of MGDSU, issued a CDO to Ric Angelo A. Arcenas for violation of Philippine Mining Act of 1995.
The CDO was issued to Arcenas after Alfredo V. Amvion, resident of the said place, complained to Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. regarding the alleged illegal quarrying operation at the said place which could result to landslide during the rainy season.
The MGB regional office and the MGDSU conducted an ocular inspection on the quarry site where they found some heavy equipment such as one bulldozer, two backhoes, one road grader and 16 wheeler dump trucks.
Arcenas, based on the records, was granted Quarry permit No. 04, particularly in Lot No. 832 at Brgy. Cudian, Ivisan, Capiz with an area of 29,554 square meters.
The investigating team found out on the plotted five GPS coordinates reading, that the subject quarry operation falls on the applied area of Arcenas, particularly Lot No. 829-C and lot no. 829-D with an area of 47,306 square meters.
The team also found out that there is no quarry operation on the area applied by Arcenas, however, the illegal quarry operations were conducted on the non-permitted area which is also owned by Arcenas.
Agana, who signed the CDO, stated that he ordered Arcenas to refrain from further conducting quarry operation in the said area until proper permit or authority is granted.
