Barangay league’s assembly to tackle term extension
ROXAS CITY – The Liga ng Mga Barangay (LNB) 4th general assembly scheduled on June 16-18 this year to be held at Heritage Hotel, Pasay City, will have as main agenda the extension of the term of all barangay captains nationwide.
Ricojudge Janvier M. Echiverri, LNB national president, in a memorandum circular, invited all provincial, metropolitan, HUC, ICC LNB presidents to attend the said general assembly.
Echiverri said that as they embark their quest for the continued building and invigoration of their respective barangays, the National Executive Board (NEB), pursuant to the mandate of the LNB Constitution and By-Laws and in coordination with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), invites the attendance of 117 Liga Presidents from different chapters to the general assembly.
“In this event, where we expect the attendance of invited VIPs, to be discussed mainly is the LNB’s desire, as an organization, to have an extended term for our incumbent barangay leaders,” Echiverri said.
Other topics to be taken during the LNB congress are: General orientation on Liga Chapter Governance and Administration, updates from the proceedings of the NEB, plenary session, welcome party and recognition night, barangay and chapter based issue consultation, governmental meetings with the DILG-NBOO and NGAs and president’s report and league directions.
Provincial Liga President Clemente “Budong” Firmalino of the Capiz chapter said that he will attend the assembly as majority of the barangays captains in Capiz wanted to have term extension.
