Orosco extols freedom earned by Filipinos
SAPIAN, Capiz – Mayor Arturo “Turic” Orosco, Sr., Ph.D. said that in modern times, people must be freed from poverty, freedom to choose of their political leaders, religion and expression as well as their right to ask the government for basic services.
“Sa bagong panahon, ang kalayaan ay may ibat’ ibang kahulugan. Kalayaan mula sa kahirapan, kalayaan pumili ng mga uugit sa pamahalaan, Kalayaan magpahayag ng sariling kuro-kuro at palagay, kalaayan sumamba ayon sa pananampalataya at maidagdag ko, kalaayan humiling, umasa at tumanggap ng kinakailangan serbisyo pambayan,” Orosco said during the Independence Day celebration last Saturday.
According to him, giving freedom to the people is an important role of the political leaders, including him, which his administration has implemented through the collaborative efforts of other elective officials and his constituents.
Orosco said, this year’s theme: “Kalayaan: Tagumpay ng Bayan”, is very significant.
“Sa anumang panahon sa kasaysayan, ang pag-asam at pakikipaglaban para sa kalayaan ang pinakamataas na hangarin ng ating inang bayan. Kaya marapat lamang na ang pagkamit natin ng kalaayan nuong mil-ocho sientos noventa’s seis ay itanghal bilang isang tunay at kauna-unahang tagumpay ng bayan,” he added.
Orosco, who is supported by his wife Dr. Evangeline Oñas-Orosco, said that his constituents has freedom to choose their political party, however, he said that it’s time that the people must have only one party which is Partido ng Bayang Sapian.
He this party has no other purpose but to have a lasting freedom for success of Sapian and the Filipino people.
The parade and reenactment of Independence Day and for Mutya ng Kalayaan was also attended by several Sanggunian Bayan Members, both outgoing and incoming, barangay captains, departments heads, employees and residents of Sapian.
