BIR exceeds tax collections in Capiz
ROXAS CITY – The revenue collections in Capiz have consistently been going up in the first five months of this year.
Roxas City Assistant Revenue District Officer lawyer Jose Rimi Lebrilla disclosed that from January to May of 2010, the tax collections of the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Capiz have continuously increased.
Lebrilla said that as of May 31 this year, their revenue collections have reached more than P202.798 million which is higher by 18.9 percent based on their goal of only P170.566 million.
He said that for the month of May alone, they were able to collect more than P44.96 million against their goal of P36.092 million for the same period.
Lebrilla added that for the past five months of the current year, the increase in their collections based on their goal was noted at more than P P32.23 million already.
He explained that the consistent revenue surpass in Capiz could be attributed to the increase in the awareness level of the taxpayers on their responsibility as well as the government initiatives to trace the non-compliant tax payers.
Lebrilla also reminded the public to religiously do their responsibility to the government as the taxes paid are being returned back for the welfare of the people.
He revealed further that they also continue their intensified community-based tax campaign in Capiz. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
