Ms. Osuma is Mutya ng Kalayaan winner
SAPIAN, Capiz – A lovely and beautiful lady from Brgy. Poblacion of this town was adjudged as Mutya ng Kalayaan 2010, the search participated by young and talented ladies coming from the town’s 10 barangays as part of the 112th Independence Day celebration last Friday.
Miss Cerine Mae Osuma, who was sponsored by Vice Mayor Ralph Odrunia, was declared as winner by judges; Miss May Den de la Cruz of Agtatacay, 1st runner-up; Miss Sheryl Rose Marie Vidal of Majanlud, 2nd runner-up; Miss Wilken Mae Benedicto of Dapdapan, 3rd runner- up and Miss Emy Oloroso, 4th runner-up.
Minor awards winners were: De la Cruz also adjudged as Miss Friendship; Benedictor, Miss darling of the crowd and Best in Filipiniana; Vidal, Miss Modeling; and Osuna, Best in Production.
Dr. Evangeline Oñas Orosco said that the search for Mutya ng Kalaayaan will be institutionalized as every year thereafter the said beauty and talent contest will be held.
The first lady, who always rallies behind her husband Mayor Arturo “Turic” Orosco, Sr. Ph.D., is the brainchild of the said affair.
During the 112th celebration, Orosco said that in modern times, people must be freed from poverty, freedom to choose their political leaders, religions and expression as well as their rights to ask the government for basic services.
The parade and reenactment of Independence Day and search for Mutya ng Kalayaan was also attended by several Sanggunian Bayan Members, barangay captains, departments heads, employees and residents of Sapian.
