CJ Corona shies away from media in first official out-of-town visit
Showing his customary smile, newly-appointed Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona was the most important visitor to grace the celebration at the Chief Justice Ramon Avanceña Hall of Justice in Iloilo City for the feast of the Mother of Perpetual Help.
But along with his seemingly amiable disposition was his dodging from getting interviewed by members of the tri-media.
Corona’s visit to the province and city Iloilo marked his first official out-of-town trip as chief justice of the Supreme Court since his appointment last May 12, 2010.
In his message, Corona scored his subordinates on the obligations in the judiciary.
He also assured that he will be there to support any legal and moral moves of those within the judiciary.
Meanwhile, Supreme Court administrator Atty. Jose Midas Marquez seemed to be also on the “evasion” mode.
He declined to lay plans on the upcoming oathtaking of President-elect Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III.
To note, Aquino declined to take his oath before Corona and opted to swear in before Associate Justice Conchita Carpio-Morales.
“We have not received any invitations or notice but there are a few elected officials who are going to take their oath of office before the Chief Justice,” he said.
During the visit, Marquez claimed that they also discussed the problem on the dearth of prosecutors in Iloilo.
He said that there were also recommendations made which they are trying to address.
