PARM slates M.O.V.E. Iloilo Run on July 18
The Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine (PARM) and PARM Visayas Council in cooperation with the Iloilo Medical Society will hold the first ever M.O.V.E. (Making Ourselves Vigilant to Exercise) Iloilo Run this coming July 18, 2010.
M.O.V.E. Iloilo Run 2010 aims to promote exercise and lifestyle change among the community as well raise funds for the persons with disabilities (PWDs) through the PARM Critical Illness Fund (CIF).
In a press conference yesterday Dr. Adrilee Gicos, Secretary of PARM Visayas Council, said the MOVE Iloilo Run 2010 is also in line with the 32nd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week slated on July 17 to 23, 2010.
The race will have as starting and finishing point the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand and will pass by Iznart St., then General Luna St., M.H. Del Pilar Street up to Molo Church. Assembly time at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand is 5 a.m.
Professional race organizer Raffy Uytiepo said the race is open to men and women of all ages and there will also be a separate race for persons on wheelchair.
He added, the race distance will be five kilometers for men, women and wheelchair and 10 kilometers for men and women.
The registration fees (inclusive of a race singlet and number) are as follow: P200 for 5K and 10K, Men and Women; P150 for 5K and 10K, Students and Wheelchair participants; and P75 for Students without race singlet.
Medals and various prizes will be awarded to Top 5 finishers for all categories of 5K and 10K races. For 10K Men and Women: First – P4,000; Second – P3,000; Third – P2,000; Fourth and Fifth – P500 each.
For 5K Men and Women: First – P2,500; Second – P1,500; Third – P1,000; Fourth and Fifth – P300 each.
For 5K Wheelchair: First – P2,500; Second – P1,500; Third – P1,000, Fourth and Fifth – P300 each.
Dr. Minda Cabrera, President of PARM, encouraged the public and various organizations to join the race as it will not only be good to their health but the participants could also be of help to the PWDs.

Deadline of Registration is on July 15, 2010 to give time for the distribution of race number and shirts.
