Drilon still contender for Senate Presidency
Re-elected Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon is one of the four contenders for Senate President of the 15th Congress.
Drilon who is a member of Liberal Party admitted there was an early report that his party is supporting Senator Francisco Pangilinan however, Drilon stressed that he will respect whatever the decision of the party.
“I am willing to the position and I am ready anytime,” he stressed.
Drilon also a former Senate President said the 24-members of the Senate will have to strengthen the selection process to get the majority consensus of members.
The Senate President is the Number 3 top official of the Philippines .
Juan Ponse Enrile is now occupying the present post.
Meanwhile, the good senator revealed that their party is currently accepting congressmen and local officials to the party of newly-elect President Benigno alias “B-noy” Aquino III.
“We are strengthening and expanding our members from 45 original congressmen”, he told members of the Iloilo City Press Corps (ICPC) during the inauguration ceremony of newly elected city officials at the Freedom Grandstand yesterday morning.
In fact last Friday, Drilon welcomed and inducted into the party 25 new congressmen from other parties including Iloilo City congressman Jerry P. Treñas who was from the Nacionalista party.
On his part, Treñas said that being a new member of the Liberal Party will bring more projects to this city.
