Capitol taps UPV for personnel audit
The University of the Philippines in the Visayas has been tapped by the Iloilo Provincial Government to conduct the personnel management and performance audit among the Capitol employees, a Philippine News Agency report said.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias said they have already approached Prof. Lorenza Padohinog of the UP Visayas to head the personnel management and performance audit team.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr., in his inaugural speech delivered last July 1, vowed to bring change and reform in the provincial government and in order to achieve this, a personnel management and performance audit will be conducted as a term of reference.
The governor also reminded the Capitol employees to read and internalize their oath of office otherwise they do not have a reason to remain working at the provincial government.
Aside from the conduct of the personnel management and performance audit, however, there will be a financial audit to be conducted to get rid of the anomalous transactions and to restore transparency and accountability in the capitol.
The financial audit will be conducted by the Commission on Audit central office.
ISC REPAIR
Meanwhile, Defensor has disclosed plans to have the Iloilo Sports Complex facilities repaired to make it fully functional.
ISC department head Francisco Heler said that during their meeting with the governor he brought up concerns on the sports complex.
He said the governor told him that the sports complex issue would be given priority.
The ISC in La Paz, Iloilo city serves as venue for the regional, provincial and district athletic meets because of its strategic location and huge area, but its facilities have already deteriorated. Several national games, concerts, and conventions were also held at ISC.
Heler said that presently, the sports complex is no longer suited for any activity as the basketball court is no longer functional, and the roofing of the covered gym is about to collapse.
He said that with ISC’s present state, the facility lost an estimated P500,000 potential for the year.
The ISC repair needs about P12 million.
“The governor wants to have the ISC repaired to make it a venue even for international football games,” Heler said.
