IPCPC officers take oath today
The officers of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Press Corps, the organization of beat reporters in the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, will take their oath of office before Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. during the flag-raising ceremony at the Capitol grounds today.
The new set of officers, elected Friday last week, is headed by Elena “Bing” Pabiona of dyLL Radyo ng Bayan, who replaced outgoing IPCPC president Ray Cabarles of RMN Iloilo.
Also elected were David Israel Sinay (Panay News), vice president; Montesa Griño-Caoyonan (The News Today), secretary; Darlene Delgado (Hublas), assistant secretary; Champ Jover (Bombo Radyo), treasurer; Glenda Sologastoa (Hublas), auditor; Tara Yap (The Daily Guardian), public relations officer; and Jezza Nepomuceno (Panay News), business manager.
The Board of Directors is composed of Levi Jun Primero (Panay News), Jun Lojero (CPU Channel), Annabel Petinglay (Philippine News Agency), Ricardo Octavio Jr. (Panay News), and Ray Cabarles (RMN Iloilo).
After the election the new IPCPC officers and directors met with Defensor, who congratulated the new IPCPC officers and hoped for a harmonious working relationship with the members of the media.
Meanwhile, Defensor has invited the media, the People’s Graftwatch and other government watchdogs to witness the proceedings of the reorganized Bids and Awards Committee every 2 p.m. of Wednesday as part of his administration’s thrust to promote transparency.
The new BAC is chaired by Provincial Administrator Raul Banias with Provincial Legal Officer Dennis Ventilacion as vice chairman. The members include Budget Officer Elena Lim, Provincial Treasurer Melba Sullivan, General Services Office Assistant Department Head Roquito Resano and a representative from the Provincial Engineer’s Office.
Ventilacion said the new BAC has passed a resolution calling on all the suppliers of the provincial government to renew all their accreditation so that they can participate in the transactions with the provincial government.
