FCU officials okay change of name, amended by-laws
ROXAS CITY – Officials of Filamer Christian University Inc. signed the document stating the school’s change of name from FCC to FCU and the amended by-laws during their special meeting held at the Centennial Board Room last Saturday.
FCU corporation president Rev. Eliseo Fantilaga presided the meeting attended by other corporate officials and by representatives of the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches, Capiz Kasapulanan of Baptist Churches, the Faculty and Staff Association; and the FCU Student Republic.
The by-laws for which the corporation is formed aims to perpetuate the Christian heritage of the institution which was originally founded by the Woman’s American Baptist Foreign Mission Society; continue the work of the school in the spirit of the founders as a church-related institution maintaining an ecumenical and non-political stance and dedicated to the education of the whole person;
To develop the spiritual, intellectual, and physical potentialities of students by providing relevant quality education in a Christian atmosphere to the end that the students will become mature and responsible citizens of their community, of their country, and of the world; demonstrate Christian love by reaching out and participating in society-building through education as an instrument for development of the community and enrichment of the quality of life of the people; advance and apply knowledge and sustain the educational program and community concerns through research, production, and operation of auxiliary services.
