408 persons in WV nabbed for fishing laws violations
Four hundred eight violators of various fishing laws in Western Visayas are facing charges in court following the Regional Maritime Office 6’s intensified drive against illegal fishing, a report of the Philippine News Agency said.
The intensified drive as shown by the unit’s accomplishment report from January to July this year also resulted to the confiscation of some P7.059 million worth of fishing gears including 75 fishing boats.
The campaign, meantime, generated some P224,800 fines in favor local government units where the operation was conducted.
Further eight cases were also lodged in various city courts as a result of the successful operation. PNA
