PRO 6 to check units for performance
The Police Regional Office 6 has announced it will regularly conduct inspections of its police units in line with the Philippine National Police’s Oplan Siyasat.
Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr., police regional director, said the inspection will be conducted together with the Regional Internal Affairs Service.
Oplan Siyasat is a regular periodic inspection of personnel to check whether they are performing according to established standards.
“We want to know if they are following police operational procedures. For example, if they are conducting checkpoints. The inspection teams will regularly check them whether they are in proper uniform, they’re using marked vehicles, if they are in lighted areas and with proper signage,” he added. “We also want to assess if they are dealing with people with utmost courteous and consideration.”
Pagdilao said the inspection will also include the physical well-being of police stations.
“We want to see for ourselves if the offices are clean and if they have simple amenities to make those who are complaining comfortable,” he added.
Pagdilao said that policemen should also ensure that the people are properly attended to the moment they step inside the office.
The inspection is also an attempt of the PNP to touch base with policemen assigned in the field as it will enable the higher headquarters to identify the problems and deficiencies in the lower police units.
Inspection teams can also give recommendations to enhance existing programs and projects to further improve the PNP organization.
However, Pagdilao did not discuss if corresponding sanctions will be imposed on policemen who will be found not aligning with the established PNP operational procedures.
