‘Colorum’ vehicles closely watched
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is now in the process of identifying the colorum or vehicles operating illegally at the new Iloilo airport in Sta. Barbara-Cabatuan towns.
“Our personnel will pose as observers and they will list down the private vehicles suspiciously coming in and out of the airport with abnormal activities,” CAAP local chief Efren Nagrama said.
He admitted that these vehicles without franchises are still clandestinely operating at the airport and even charge excessive payment but their office has no control over them.
Nagrama advised commuters not to patronize these “colorum” vehicles and passengers should only transact business with identified transport counters located outside the arrival area.
“If no one patronizes these colorum vehicles, they will just fade away”, he said.
Nagrama said these units are pretending to pick-up their relatives but are actually negotiating with passengers.
These vehicles could be easily detected as they bear green plates.
Nagrama said “colorum” drivers who will be caught will immediately be reported to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board 6 and will be summoned to explain their operations. MGC
