TF undertakes anti-dengue measures
ROXAS CITY – The preventive, curative and monitoring activities to counter the increasing number of dengue cases in Capiz have been lined up.
In a meeting, the Dengue Crisis management Task Force chaired by Gov. Victor Tanco identified different measures at all levels to address the problem.
Capiz is under a state of calamity due to dengue cases outbreak.
Also discussed were the hospital-based programs to respond to the increasing number of dengue patients including the preventive measures for the spread of dengue disease, status of availability of blood at the Philippine Red Cross, and health education and promotion programs.
Tanco said he has already issued a directive to all government hospitals in Capiz to admit all dengue patients for free.
He also revealed that the provincial government will also subsidize the payment of processing fee of three bags of blood for transfusion to indigent dengue patients.
Amid the increasing number of requests for blood at the Philippine Red Cross, Tanco has also approved the hiring two medical technologists or nurses to augment the manpower of PRC courtesy of the provincial government.
Meanwhile, Capiz PRC administrator Nelia Cartujano assured the Capiceños that they have sufficient supply of blood for dengue patients.
Cartujano also expressed gratitude to the people from all the sectors in Capiz for continuously donating blood to the PRC, the reason that it has not suffered any blood supply shortage.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan last week declared a state of calamity in the entire province of Capiz due to dengue cases outbreak in order to also utilize part of the province’s calamity fund for dengue-related measures. PIA
