‘NPA rebels stole my food supply’
A resident of Bingawan, Iloilo said a group of New People’s Army rebels entered his house and took his food supply on the evening of August 10.
Joseph Dayot Gonzales, 25, of Sitio Manghanop, Brgy. Poblacion, said the rebels even threatened to kill him after taking away his food.
The rebels belong to the group of Francisco Balois, leader of the NPA Central Panay, said Gonzales, who went to the office of Mayor Matt Palabrica to ask for assistance.
The complainant said that Balois came to his house along with heavily-armed 10 men and five women.
Fearing for his safety, he let them in, and the group’s leader identified himself as Tonying, a well-known alias of Francisco Balois.
Balois is a wanted criminal and a mass murderer, according to the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division.
Balois angrily demanded for food, said Gonzales but he told them he has nothing to give them.
But the group searched Gonzales’s home and eventually found rice and chickens outside his house.
After that, the rebels took turns in beating Gonzales and told him that he is a liar.
At gunpoint, they also forced Gonzales to prepare a meal for them.
While the rebels were eating, Balois told Gonzales to deliver a message to Palabrica.
He said: Until now, he has not given us the P15,000 we asked from him.”
One of the armed men also took a fancy to Gonzales’ bolo and took it.
Gonzales said his ordeal lasted for two hours. The rebels then ordered Gonzales to put on his shoes and leave his house.
Fearing for his life, Gonzales said he ran all the way to Brgy. Alabidhan going to the house of his fiancée.
The following morning, he went to the mayor’s office and the police station to report the incident.*
