Albaña: I’m not incapacitated
ROXAS CITY – Panitan Councilor Roberto Albaña has brushed aside reports he has become incapacitated after he went on a sick leave when he suffered a stroke.
He was even rumored to be dead.
Albaña, who returned to work last week even if he still have leave credits left, said he was forced to report to the Sangguniang Bayan to dispel rumors that he is already bed-ridden and incapacitated.
His detractors have reportedly declared he should be replaced because he could no longer perform his duties as councilor.
However, Panitan Mayor Katherine Belo, who allegedly wanted Albaña out, told The News Today that she never recommended any person to replace Albaña.
Belo, who said she is still a member of the Liberal Party, also denied that she is pushing her sister Keren Sofit to replace Albaña.
“I’m the mayor and for the sake of delicadeza, I’m not pushing my sister for the position,” Belo said.
She said granting that Albaña is no longer fit to work, she will let the LP hierarchy chose his replacement.
Belo and her runningmates filed their certificates of candidacy under the LP, however, a month before the election, they were junked by the party.
Instead, LP supported defeated mayoralty candidate and Tincupon village head Richard Dadivas.
It was also learned that Belo and her partymates were supported by Lakas-Kampi CMD/Ugyon Kita Capiz under the leadership of former 2nd district Rep. Fredenil Castro and former Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn Bolante.
The LP said that Belo and her group were junked by the party after they were rumored to be supporting Bolante because the mayor’s mother, Josefina Dorado Dequiña, is a close relative of Bolante’s wife, Carol Dorado.*
