Capiz launches war vs. dengue
ROXAS CITY – Capiz province headed by Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. declared war against dengue fever during the launching of Oplan Kontra Dengue in front of the Provincial Capitol last Friday.
As of August 14, the province has already recorded 2,154 cases and 18 deaths.
“Eliminate all mosquito larvae and stop all dengue-carrying mosquitoes,” Tanco urged all Capiceños during the launching rites.
Ways on how to destroy and dispose mosquito habitats such as empty bottles, tires, and coconut husks were also demonstrated.
Vehicles honked and ambulance units sounded off their sirens to show alert during dengue emergency cases.
Earlier this month, Capiz province was placed under the state of calamity so that it could use its five percent calamity fund to address the dengue outbreak.
