Seneres: University means quality education, excellence
ROXAS CITY – Dr. Expedito Seneres, president of Filamer Christian University, said that university means quality education and excellence because the Commission on Higher Education granted the former FCC university status because of these qualities.
Seneres took his oath as the first president of FCU before Higher Education Commissioner Nona Ricafort , in front of hundreds of guests, officials and students yesterday morning at the school gym.
He said the school has realized its dream to make Filamer Christian College into Filamer Christian University with its commitment to quality education and excellence, along with the Board of Trustees.
Jessie Contreras, Capiz Emmanuel Hospital administrator, an affiliate of FCU, said the school realized its dream of becoming a university because of God’s guidance.
During the felicitations, Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Rep. Antonio del Rosario, represented by his sister Melanie, and Roxas City Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas congratulated the FCU for its success.
Dr. Teodoro Robles, president of Central Philippine University, also congratulated the FCU.
The affair was also attended by the Board of Trustees of FCU and CEH led by Atty. Mariano Dioso.
The unveiling of the university marker followed the investiture of Seneres.
FCU is celebrating its 106th founding anniversary and first year as university from August 23 to 27.
The school started in 1904 as a home for orphans and poor children, named the Capiz Home School, under the care of the American Baptist missionaries offering elementary education.
It became Filamer Christian Institute in 1952, and Filamer Christian College in 1985.*
