One hectare marijuana field found
ROXAS CITY – About a hectare of marijuana plantation inside a sugarcane field was discovered in San Antonio village in Pilar, Capiz following a police raid.
Former Mayor Gideon Patricio, who exposed the marijuana plantation, said in a radio interview the area is owned by his distant relative.
“I don’t tolerate this kind of illegalities even if (those involved) are my relatives because I have also children who might be affected with marijuana,” Patricio said.
Patricio, husband of incumbent mayor Ritalyn Patricio, said he has been monitoring the illegal plantation until the police raided the area.
He added that marijuana leaves recovered during the raid the other day are now with the Pilar police station for safekeeping.
Meanwhile, Patricio said town police chief SP04 Morito de la Vega survived after he was shot by Alfredo Aperocho outside at his residence last Monday.
De la Vega was just after he came from Patricio’s house for a conference regarding the marijuana plantation.
Policemen chased the suspect who the later yielded when cornered near his residence adjacent to the police station and municipal hall.
Patricio said the owner of the marijuana plantation and the suspect who shot De la Vega are facing appropriate charges.*
