River cut-off channel project one of Andaya’s priorities: VM
ROXAS CITY – One of the priorities of Sigma Mayor Maria Andaya in her second term is the cut-off channel of Mambusao River project amounting to P10 million.
Vice Mayor Rodolfo Simon said the plan to cut off the curve river in the town poblacion to stop soil erosion will be pushed by the Andaya administration in collaboration with the municipal council.
He said the river curve will be cut off to make the waterways straight to avoid soil erosion.
Simon, is now officer-in-charge mayor, because Andaya is on official travel to Manila and will return at the end of the month.
Meanwhile, the town’s P5-million police station building was recently inaugurated, and other projects such as the renovation of municipal hall building, public market, and civic center are underway.
Simon said the Andaya administration will also undertake expansion of Vicente Andaya Sr. Memorial High School to Mianay and Masakol.
In Mianay, the expansion will cater to students from neighboring barangays such as Mianay Parian, Malapad Cogon, and some parts of Amaga and Akbo.
The Masakol extension will accommodate students from the village and nearby areas of Pinalamatikan, Balucuan, Matinabus and some parts of Mangoso.
“Andaya’s administration will bring the school closer to the students who need not go to the town poblaction to study,” Simon said.
Vicente Andaya Sr. Memorial High School, which has a main campus in the poblacion, was named in honor of the late father of former 2nd District Rep. Vicente Andaya Jr., the late husband of Mayor Maria Andaya.*
