Anti-Dengue Summit set today
The Iloilo City Government will hold an Anti-Dengue Summit at the Social Hall today, starting at 8am.
“The city is currently pursuing an intensive anti-dengue campaign in the light of numerous dengue cases that have cropped up recently. The summit will tackle topics on how to prevent the spread of this disease and updates on the dengue situation here,” Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said.
A Situationer Report on Dengue Fever will be presented by Assistant City Health Officer Dr. Mae Delmo while Updates on Dengue Infection will be provided by Dr. Ellamae Divinagracia, infectious disease specialist of St. Paul’s Hospital.
A Dengue Control Program will be discussed by Dr. Ismael Sumagaysay, internist and infectious disease specialist of West Visayas State University Medical Center.
About 500 participants are expected to attend the conference, including city officials, barangay officials, representatives of government agencies, schools, hospitals, Philippine Red Cross, business and religious sectors, and the media.
The summit also seeks to come up with a multi-sectoral commitment and affirmation of action plan that calls for a concerted effort in fighting dengue.
The meeting will solicit a community declaration to take part in the “People Power Do-Day” against dengue together with the provincial government on September 1.*
