City officials no-show at Capitol anti-dengue drive
ROXAS CITY – City officials were absent during the Capiz Provincial Government’s launching of its campaign to eradicate dengue last week.
Joeffry Espiritu of the Integrated Provincial Health Office said they have invited the Roxas City Government through an official letter, however, he has no knowledge why the city officials were absent during the launching program.
Gov. Victor Tanco said “the City (Government) has their own separate activity against dengue and they are also busy doing their own campaign.”
The campaign against dengue focused on the thorough implementation of the “search and destroy” to eliminate the breeding places of the dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
The IPHO is the frontliner in the anti-dengue campaign dubbed “Oplan Kontra Dengue.”
Meanwhile, the Capiz provincial government is in charge of the curative campaign, especially in helping dengue patients admitted in different hospitals.
Latest IPHO data show that Roxas City still tops the dengue cases with 699 patients and 10 fatalities.
Capiz has 2,154 registered dengue cases from January this year. Other fatalities are in Pilar, three; President Roxas, two; and Panay, Maayon and Ivisan, one each.
