Illegal gambling arrests continue
Illegal gambling continues to be a problem in Iloilo City as evidenced in the arrest of a bet collector of “first-two balls” numbers game this week.
Suspect Ryan Rosauro was collared by the team of Chief Insp. Dande Deocampo along Washington Street in Jaro district.
Recovered from his Rosauro’s possession were several betting slips where the number combinations were listed and cash bets amounting to P162.
Rosauro was temporarily detained at the lock-up cell of Jaro Police Station.
Total eradication of illegal numbers games city is one of the orders of Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to Senior Supt. Dennis Basngi, director of Iloilo City Police Office.
Despite the operation of the Small Time Lottery in the city, Mabilog admitted that various forms of illegal gambling such as “daily-double” and “first-two balls” still exist.
Basngi has been instructed to neutralize the operations of these illegal numbers games, the mayor said.
Mabilog has instructed the Anti-Illegal Gambling Task Group to arrest and file charges against illegal gamblers to teach them a lesson.*
