Palomar vs Delicana in PCL polls today
ROXAS CITY – Tapaz Councilor Karen Palomar of Liberal Party and Panay Councilor Leobeth Deslate-Delicana, a lawyer of Lakas/Ugyon Kita Party, are expected to vie for the presidency of the Philippine Councilors’ League-Capiz during the elections today at Rustic Bar and Restaurant in Brgy. Banica here.
A source said Palomar will tandem with the son of former Maayon Mayor Belgio Dueñas as her vice president while Delicana, with incumbent PCL vice president Francis Dave Juanico.
Juanico is presently sitting as ex-officio member of the Provincial Board to fill the vacuum for PCL representative after former President David Bauson, who ran as board member, was defeated in the May 10 polls.
LP, said to have only 68 councilors on its side, is supposedly outnumbered by Lakas/UKC, which reportedly has 104 supporters.
According to the source, the LP hierarchy has been campaigning for Palomar while Lakas/UKC has also been doing the same for its candidate.
Lakas/UKC, chaired by former 2nd District Rep. Fredenil Castro, husband
of incumbent Rep. Jane Castro, dominates Capiz with 11 allied mayors while LP has only six.
However, reports said LP has convinced some Lakas/UKC councilors to jump ship and support Palomar thus, the contest between the two female would be a close fight, the source added.*
