Dengue kills 18 in Iloilo City
Already 18 lives have been claimed by dengue in Iloilo City out of the 967 cases reported as of Sunday, the city mayor’s office said.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has reiterated his call for a massive cleanup drive as he believes it is one of the best solutions to the dengue problem.
Mabilog had earlier called for a multi-sectoral summit recently to gather the support of various sectors to combat the disease causesd by Aedis Aegypti mosquito.
Meanwhile, he said the city government’s regular blood-letting activity was able to save some 20 lives equivalent to the 20 bags of blood that were donated by the city to the Philippine Red Cross.
Through the recently approved P1-million supplemental fund, the city government also continues to shoulder the charges for the processing of blood for dengue patients.*
