Autopsy finds foul play in death of village dad
For his family, the death of councilman Joeddy Jovacon of Brgy. Puerto Princesa, Barotac Viejo was a case of suicide.
Autopsy results, however, show otherwise.
Chief Insp. Noel Martinez, medico-legal officer of the Regional Crime Laboratory 6, said there was no gunpowder burning or tattooing found on the victim’s body which means that Jovacon was shot from a distance of more than two feet.
The result of the paraffin test has yet to be released.
It was earlier reported that Jovacon, 43, ended his life by shooting himself Friday afternoon inside their family home.
The victim incurred a gunshot wound on his head allegedly caused by a caliber .45 pistol.
Before the incident, he was at the back of their house cooking something for wife, who was celebrating her birthday.
Shortly later, a gunshot was heard. His wife initially thought that Jovacon just indiscriminately fired his gun like he did before.
But when they checked on him several minutes later, they saw the blooded Jovacon with a gunshot wound on his head.
Jovacon’s wife said her husband had told her about a threat on his life.
Four persons allegedly tried to kill him but the victim failed to reveal their identities and the reason why they wanted him killed.
His relatives said that before his death, Jovacon was acting strangely and stayed awake the night before he died.*
