PhilHealth aims for 60,000 new members in Region 6
The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. is targeting to enroll around 60,000 new members in Western Visayas this year.
Larry Tabsing of the PhilHealth Regional Office 6 said in order to realize their target for 2010, they will hold a massive registration for the heads of indigent families throughout Western Visayas on October 2, the PhilHealth National Registration Day.
Prioritized for the registration will be those who are already identified in the National Household Targeting System used by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in identifying the indigent families in the region.
The massive registration will be held because Western Visayas is also a recipient of the nationwide allocation from the Department of Health of about P500 million.
Registration fee for each head of the family is P1,200 per year which will be sponsored by the DOH.
With the registration of the heads of indigent families, their beneficiaries could also avail of the benefits during times of hospitalization and refund from medicine purchase.
Western Visayas based on the National Statistics Office survey already has universal coverage of PhilHealth among the indigent families, but the program is intended to make sure that it could cover those who have not been a member yet.*
A regional committee composed of the DOH, PhilHealth, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development and Department of Education has been created to help in the attainment of the target 60,000 new members this year.*PNA
