2 killed, 1 injured in Pototan
Two persons were killed while one was wounded following a shooting and stabbing incident in Pototan town, Iloilo.
The Pototan Police Station, however, considered the case closed because the two fatalities were the ones who attacked each other.
Insp. Charlie Sustento identified the fatalities as Jerry Patubo, 41, and his nephew, Donald Palma-era, 19, both of Brgy. Iwa Macatol.
Jerry’s son, Jeffrey, 18 was also injured.
Police said the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between Jerry and Donald that started almost a year ago.
Jeffrey said that during that time, his second cousin had a verbal argument with his father and Donald grabbed his father by the collar and punched him.
Last Friday night, Donald, who attended a birthday party, reportedly spoke something bad against Jerry.
Someone informed Jerry about it, prompting him to confront Donald.
Jerry, who was with his son Jeffrey, later met Donald and at the height of their argument, Donald shot his uncle, who also stabbed him.
When Jeffrey attempted to help his father, Donald also shot him on the shoulder.
With a knife wound on his stomach, Donald fled.
Jeffrey, meanwhile, brought his father to the Iloilo Provincial Hospital where he was declared “dead on arrival.”
At around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, while policemen were conducting hot pursuit operation, they found Donald’s body on a rice field.
He was found with caliber .22 revolver loaded with four live ammunition and four spent shells in its cylinder.*
