Teener mobbed after robbing, stabbing cabbie
A teenage boy got a beating from residents of Arguelles St., Jaro, Iloilo City after he allegedly tried to rob a taxi driver Sunday evening.
Seventeen-year-old “Jun-Jun” (not his real name) suffered wounds and bruises.
Police said the teener and his companion flagged the St. John taxi of Jerry Patricio, 37, of Molo, Iloilo City at Iznart St., City Proper.
They told the driver to bring them to Metropolis Subdivision in Jaro.
When they reached a gasoline station near Jaro plaza, they declared a hold-up and ordered the driver to proceed to an alley at Arguelles St.
The driver fought them and “Jun-Jun” stabbed him on the chest, face, and arms.
But the victim managed to call for help and run towards the nearby Jaro Police Station.
A resident said they immediately intercepted the taxi and other residents took turns in mauling the suspect.
The teener said his companion fled while he received all the beating from the residents.
Patricio was later brought to the hospital.
Police said the cab’s windshield was destroyed. They also recovered a knife and a firearm, which turned out to be a pellet gun.*JPR
