Symposium on hydration set
The Department of Science and Technology–Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) will hold a symposium and a lay forum focusing on science of hydration on October 7 in Iloilo City.
The event, held in cooperation with the National Nutrition Council 6 and Coca-Cola Export Corp., will be held at Westown Hotel, Smallville.
Expected to attend the symposium in the morning are scientists, academicians, public health workers, food industry representatives, researchers and other professionals involved in related fields who will learn and discuss recent scientific knowledge and recommendations on hydration, water and beverages.
The lay forum in the afternoon will include teachers, representatives of centers and establishments related to fitness, parents and the public who are interested to learn and discuss hydration, beverage and water.
FNRI Director Mario Capanza will be one of the resource speakers. Others are Dr. Celeste Tanchoco, scientist III of FNRI; Sanirose Orbeta, vice president of the Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesity; Prof. Hercules Callanta from the College of Human Kinetics, UP Diliman; Dr. Rodolfo Florentino, scientific adviser for the International Life Sciences Institute-Southeast Asia; and Jose Bayani Baylon, vice president for public affairs and communications, Coca-Cola Export Corp.
