Consumers advised on recall of Mead Johnson milk products
The Department of Health and the Food and Drugs Administration are advising Ilonggos to be aware of the two milk products being recalled nationwide.
Delia Tarrosa, spokesperson of FDA in Western Visayas, said recalled are Sustagen Junior Milk Drink Powder Vanilla Flavor and Alactagrow Bibo Trio Milk Supplement. These are for toddlers aged one to three years old.
The products were recalled due to differences in the product labeling claims in terms of nutritional contents as checked by the FDA.
According to the FDA, these two milk products should contain around 3 to 6 grams of fat per 100 calories based on the standard for follow-up formula for infants.
But FDA found out that Sustagen Junior Milk Drink Powder Vanilla Flavor contains only 1.5 grams of fat per 100 calories, while Alactagrow Bibo Trio Milk Supplement contains 1.34 grams of fat per 100 calories.
These powdered milk products are manufactured by Mead Johnson Nutrition Philippines Inc.
Tarrosa said consumers who have bought these products can bring them back to the customer service center of the store where it was purchased. They can also bring it to the licensed distributor of the milk product and have their payments returned.
Meanwhile, Mead Johnson said they will accept all returned milk products and will cooperate in the recall.*PNA
