Capitol distributes IEC materials on environment to high schools
The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of the Iloilo Provincial Government in collaboration with the Regional Environmental Education Network 6 yesterday distributed information, education and communication materials to secondary schools in the province.
The IEC materials are about Solid Waste Management, Vermicomposting, Responsible Mining, Mangroves, and Rainwater Harvesting Technology.
Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, who represented Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr., said the distribution of IEC materials to schools is timely “because we are in the midst of an environmental crisis.”
Banias said that through information dissemination “our environment will be protected.”
Beneficiary schools are Don Felix Serra National High School (San Joaquin), Tigbauan National High School, Igbaras National High School in the First District;
Leganes National High School, Leon National High School, Sta. Barbara National Comprehensive High School in the Second District;
Calinog National Comprehensive High School, Janiuay National Comprehensive High School, Pototan National Comprehensive High School in the Third District;
Anilao National High School, Dingle National High School, Dumangas National High School in the Fourth District;
Estancia National High School, Sara National High School, and Roberto H. Tiron High School (Concepcion) in the Fifth District.
The principals of the respective schools accepted the IEC materials.
Experts also gave a presentation and brief lectures on the different topics contained in the IEC materials.*
