RPA-ABB men fire at poultry farm
About 10 gun toting men believed to be members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade stormed a poultry farm in Brgy. Guibuangan, Cabatuan, Iloilo.
The suspects fired all over the poultry farm owned by Melba Sutherland, a resident of Cabatuan.
Caretaker Angelo Salgado said he just watched in disbelief as RPA-ABB men fired their guns.
After several minutes, the armed men left.
Personnel of Cabatuan Police Station recovered only a slug of a firearm.
Initial information revealed the suspects are under the leadership of RPA-ABB Western Visayas leader Demetrio Capilastique alias Hugo.
According to Cabatuan police, the incident could have been triggered by the complaints on the poultry farm operation.
Some residents in the area have filed a petition for the farm to stop its operation.
But Senior Supt. Gil Lebin, director of Iloilo Police Provincial Office, said the incident could also be related to the conflict within the RPA-ABB movement.
There are reports that Sutherland’s farm is supported by another faction of the RPA-ABB.
“But we have yet to verify the information,” Lebin said.*
