Baby abandoned inside church CR
A baby boy was left inside the comfort room of Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral in Iloilo City Tuesday morning.
The infant, wrapped in cloth and placed inside a plastic bag, was found on the floor of one the cubicles in the female comfort room.
The baby, believed to be newborn, was discovered by two female parishioners.
One of them said she heard a soft cry coming from something that was moving inside a plastic bag.
She then called the comfort room attendant to check the baby.
The attendant said she saw a teenage girl enter the CR minutes before the two women arrived.
The girl, who was about 16 or 17, was carrying a bag when she went inside.
The attendant said when the girl came out, she looked pale and hurriedly left the church premises.
When the incident was reported to the vicar, the baby was brought to the hospital for examination.
As of press time, police investigators have yet to identify the girl who abandoned the infant.*
