Media accreditation for election open
ROXAS CITY – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC)-Capiz Provincial Office has called on tri-media practitioners in the province to apply for accreditation for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 25.
“Local tri-media practitioners can now apply at the office,” COMELEC Provincial Election Supervisor Wil Arceño said.
COMELEC Resolution No. 9031 states that the period for filing of applications for accreditation shall be from Sept. 14 to Oct. 19, 2010.
“Duly accredited domestic and foreign media shall be allowed maximum access to all stages of the electoral process subject only to conditions essential for the protection of COMELEC personnel, property and privileged information,” the resolution said.
Upon accreditation, media cards will be issued by the Commission to media representatives of various organizations who want to be accredited for the coverage of the barangay polls.
“Any media representative found to be engaging in unprofessional activities shall have their media cards immediately revoked,” the resolution noted.
Unprofessional activities include any behavior deemed disruptive of the conduct of voting, counting like conducting interviews inside the polling place or canvassing center, engaging in partisan political activities, distributing campaign materials and influencing the choice of voters, among others.*PIA
