More than 600 Capiceños join PhilHealth Sabado
Some 620 residents of Capiz took part in the government’s PhilHealth Sabado National Registration Day on October 2 held at the Governor’s Office of the Provincial Capitol.
PhilHealth Provincial Manager Joe Frederick Diaz said the clients came for health insurance registration, inquiries, orientation on the benefits of being a PhilHealth member, and updating of records.
Diaz said they also registered 103 non-PhilHealth members who were claiming to belong to the poorest families but will be subjected for validation by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
During the event, Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco distributed PhilHealth Cards to the identified indigent Capiceños, particularly from Pilar, Maayon and Roxas City.
Te Provincial Health Office in partnership with the Department of Health also provided free Pandemrix vaccine against A (H1N1) influenza.
The PhilHealth Sabado has the support of the provincial government of Capiz and other local government units, national agencies, namely Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Education, DOH, DSWD, and Philippine Information Agency.
The PhilHealth Sabado is the start of a continuing advocacy program to increase awareness and knowledge of every Filipino on the importance of becoming a PhilHealth member to ensure access to quality health services to the member and his/her dependents.
The program intends to register non-members, particularly from the informal sector under the individually paying program.
It also provides for an opportunity to automatically register and distribute PhilHealth cards to about 800,000 indigents identified in the National Household Targeting System of the DSWD.
PhilHealth Sabado also fulfills the universal health insurance coverage within three years as promised by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III in his State of the Nation Address.*
