New PhilHealth contribution for professionals start Oct. 12
The Phililippine Health Insurance Corp. will have new contribution rate for self-employed professionals starting October 12 this year.
PhilHealth 6 Information Officer Lazaro Tabsing said under the Individually Paying Program of the agency, self-employed professionals with family income of more than P25,000 will pay a monthly rate of P200.
The self-employed professionals referred to are lawyers, doctors, accountants and all those under the list of Professionals/Other Professionals by the Professional Regulations Commission.
Contribution rates for those who are not included in the PRC list will remain at P100 a month or equivalent to P300 per quarter and those existing and current professional-members will still be allowed to pay the old rate until the end of the year.
The increase in contributions is part of the efforts of the agency to correct the social inequity among individually paying members, comprising both high salaried and low salaried individuals, who all pay the same rate of P100 monthly.
The reform is mandated by PhilHealth Board Resolutions No. 886 and 887 series of 2006 and was reiterated this year with the assumption of former Health Secretary Esperanza Cabral, who served as PhilHealth chairperson.
As part of the reform, existing individually paying members and new enrollees are required to register and accomplish the PhilHealth Member Registration Form to reflect their profession and income.
Concerned professionals will be asked to attach the photocopy of their PRC ID while other professionals, the copy of their business permit. Should the declared family income is P25,000 and below, a copy of the Income Tax Return shall be attached to the PMRF.*PIA
