BIR Capiz surpasses collection goals
ROXAS CITY – The Bureau of Internal Revenue in Capiz has surpassed its tax collection goals in the past nine months.
District Information Officer Ma. Gracia Balgos said that as of September 2010, their collection has reached 375.197 million compared to their goal of more than P364.469 million.
She said the increase was noted at 2.94 percent or about P10.73 million for the nine-month revenue collections.
Compared to the collections during the same period last year, this year’s first nine months revenue collection was 30.5 percent or P87.65 million higher with a cumulative revenue of more than P287.5 million only.
For the month of September 2010 alone, collection was more than P41.680 million, higher by 3.56 percent or P1.43 million against the P40.247 million target for the said month.
The BIR’s sources of collection include income taxes, value added taxes, other percentage taxes, excise taxes and other taxes.
Under the administration of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, BIR Commissioner Kim Henares vowed to intensify its tax collection by running after tax cheats through the filing tax evasion cases against tax evaders.
In his report on the first 100 days of his administration, Aquino said more concerned citizens are also helping the government in running after graft and corrupt practices by giving tip or information to run after smugglers and tax evaders.*PIA
